Queen's Jubilee at Spruce Meadows ...

It's been a while since I've posted, but that's not because I haven't been doing anything interesting.  Quite the opposite actually.  Since Mum arrived over two weeks ago, we haven't stopped at all.  As soon as she arrived, I threw all kinds of Calgarian events at Mum, beginning with a visit to the Millarville Market and Spruce Meadows.  It was a great time to visit Spruce Meadows as the North American tournament was celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with the $200,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup on the Saturday afternoon.  Also, the Canadian and American Olympic teams had just been announced so we got to see several of the riders who will be competing in London in August.  It was a special experience to share with Mum as she has spent many a Saturday afternoon watching me compete in jumping events (albeit at a much smaller level) so she had a great appreciation for the size and complexity of the course.  It was a terrific way to spend our first day together and set the tone for all the fun that was to come over the next few weeks.

Canadian and British flags (and jumps) to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Big, big jumps

Fast corners

Royal decorations everywhere

Stay tuned for many more posts coming up, all filled with spectacular photos from Mum's trip so far!
