After our relaxing time in Osoyoos, it was time to hit the road again on our way home. As we headed out of the Okanagon, we hit several of my favourite wineries,
Quail's Gate and
Arrowleaf, stocking up on their tasty wines. We also bought up big in the fresh fruit department - my goal was to set Mum to work stewing and freezing all the lovely peaches and apricots once we got home! A drive through the top of the Okanagon is not complete without a visit to
Dutchmen Dairy for the most amazing icecream ever. This time I went for the Black Forest and Sour Cherry flavours and was not disappointed. If only they were a little closer to where we live (or perhaps not; my waist line wouldn't appreciate it, I'm sure!) We chose to break up the drive with a stay in Revelstoke which is a lovely little mountain town. We spent an enjoyable evening there watching a local band play in the town square. The final day bought us back into the heart of the Rockies before we finally left them behind and arrived, 11 days later, in Calgary. It was an amazing trip and we saw some wonderful sights, but best of all was spending all that quality time with Mum! Thanks Mum, I love you!
