Millarville Rodeo ...

Cowboys hanging around

Last weekend, the Millarville Rodeo was finally held, after being postponed due to the bad weather in May. Second time around, the sun was shining and all the local cowboys and cowgirls were out in force at the Millarville Race Track.  I headed down there on Saturday morning after the market (and after getting my hair butchered by a country hairdresser - never trust a hairdresser who only charges $30!).  It was a perfect afternoon to sit in the sun drinking beer, eating hot dogs and cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls.  It was obvious that the standard wasn't as high as the Calgary Stampede (this observation coming from myself, the rodeo specialist ... not).  The best event, once again, was the cattle penning, a real spectator sport that looks like a lot of fun.  The rodeo dance was held on the Saturday night but I decided not to attend - to participate in country dancing would take more than a few glasses of wine and with the prevalence of police in the area, I took the safe option and enjoyed a bottle of wine at home.  Next year.  Maybe.  Yeehah!

Pick the calf up ...

... slam him down ... and tie him up.  Job done.

Eight seconds is up ... off he gets

Or you could just dismount before the eight seconds  is up

And they're off ...

One cow found ...

... three cows found and penned

A little one gets involved in the barrel racing
