Beautiful Bay of Fires ...

On Christmas Day, C and I left Melbourne bound for Launceston, where our Tasmanian adventure began.  It is safe to say that I was overly excited about showing off my home state to him (C refers to our time in Tassie as 'Anna's Seven Day Sales Pitch') as well as exploring an area I'd never been to ... the Bay of Fires.  For many years now, I've heard people talk about the four day walk that takes you along the entire length of the Bay.  We didn't have the time for this, but did spend two nights in St Helens, exploring several of the beaches in the Bay of Fires.  For those non-Taswegians, the Bay of Fires were named by Captain Tobias Furneaux in 1773 when he arrived and saw the fires of the Aboriginals along the coast line.  We spent one particularly lovely day at Binalong Bay, walking along the beach, reading and snoozing on the rocks and (for C at least) body surfing.  It is a truly spectacular place to visit ... and barely another person around, even at the peak of the holiday season.  Enjoy these few pictures ...

Wonderful photos Anna; it looks a lot like my favourite place, WIlsons Promontory, which I suppose would make sense geologically. It probably was all connected once. Have fun.

Binalong Bay! We'll be spending a couple of weeks down there soon, maybe more... Father-in-law has a house that he's doing up to sell, so we're taking advantage of free accom while we can :)

Working from home has its advantages sometimes... bugger we didn't get to have a beer when you were down here, but 7 days sounds like you wouldn't have had much time for hanging around!
