Happy days on Salt Spring Island ...

Concentrating hard on steering the boat

Canadians love a long weekend more than Australians - there is a long weekend every month.  This weekend was Labour Day.  I decided to take advantage of the three day weekend to get out and explore the west coast of Canada a little more.  But first, I spent 24 hours showing C. around the Salt Spring Island area.  We began with a sail through the Ganges harbour on a gorgeous sail boat - I learnt that I'm not a fan of doing the steering when it is time to 'tack' (when the boat tips right on its side to turn).  Then, we hiked to the top of Mt. Erskine, home of the fairy doors.  In the evening, we joined the family for lamb burgers and copious amounts of good wine whilst watching the stunning sunset.  In the morning, we got our hippy fix at the Salt Spring Island market before heading off to Vancouver Island.
