A quiet weekend ...

Life's been pretty busy lately, with lots of travelling, being back at work (albeit part time) and studying like mad (more on the uni work in another post).  So, it was nice to have a quiet weekend, just hanging around home.  It was kind of an enforced break, since our hiking plans were put on hold due to C suffering a nasty bout of food poisoning.

My first attempt at Hungarian paprika chicken

On Saturday evening, we went to see Midnight in Paris at the movie theatre - I can highly recommend it as a silly but fun movie to see.  It makes you want to visit Paris, preferably in the 1920s!  On Sunday evening, I attempted to recreate a meal of my childhood - Hungarian paprika chicken followed by peach crumble.  The paprika chicken dish needs a little more practice, but the crumble was spot on.  Fresh BC peaches helped I think!

Peach crumble with vanilla icecream

The next few weekends are all pretty full on with hiking trips, camping trips and some time on Salt Spring Island, so perhaps the enforced break was just the right thing for this weekend.
