Different cultural perspectives....

Normal baby transportation?!

Yesterday, as I left the post office, a group of young girls (not more than 10), caught sight of me and proceeded to shout 'Ahhhhhh, a white girl!!!' Can you imagine a group of Australian girls calling out 'Ahhhhhhh, an Asian girl!!!'? I think not. It made me think of the different views of normal and acceptable behaviours.

Normal dog grooming?! Looks can be deceiving - my gym (note the advertisement for our rival school?!)
Which of the following are you more likely to stare at, shout at or honk your horn at?
The person waiting patiently for the traffic light to turn green or the one racing through a red light?
The person wearing a bike helmet or the one dinking (dubbing to you NZers!) 2 passengers on their bike?
The person wearing runners on the treadmill or the one running in Crocs?
The person running on the treadmill or the one standing on the treadmill watching TV?
The person walking down the street or the one spitting and urinating in the street?
The person with a shopping trolley filled with fruit and vegetables or the one with vacuum packed chicken feet?
The person getting on the train with a backpack or the one with a live chicken and an old rice bag filled with things?
The person eating a meal in a restaurant or the one burping loudly and spitting on the restaurant floor?

Normal shop assistant?!

It really does depend on your cultural perspective - China and the western world certainly do have very different perspectives, that's for sure. Sometimes it does get very irritating the staring, particularly during a week like this and a couple of 'SHENME?'s ('WHAT?'') may have left my mouth this week!

Normal napping location?!

Haha, and the worst thing is that 'shen me?' is not even rude for them, so it just makes them laugh that you can speak their language! I tell you - a challenge a day! xo
