To top off my already forgettable week, Gunnar and I have split - How do I always manage to pick the ones with the committment issues?! So, it was off for a girls night out to cheer me up and enjoy the company of good friends. The night began with a beautiful NZ white, some sparklers and the obligatory 'what do I wear?' debate. I decided on all black, with my new electric blue tights from Tokyo ..... little did I know the attention they were to gain later in the night!
Kiki enjoying her German sausage!
Cheers to that! The beginning of the girls night ..... the usuals plus new friend Barbara.
The Paulaner restaurant is always a good place to begin a night of festivities - good food, good wine and beer and a fantastic band to have a dance too. Despite the Chinese staff telling us we weren't allowed to light our sparklers, laowai/friend management pulled rank and then the sparklers were on! We managed to have the entire restaurant up dancing with us, including a very crazy Chinese/American business man whose dancing rendition of 'YMCA' was highly amusing.
Sparklers make everyone smile!
The attention to the tights came a little later when we were dancing with two American and Spanish business men. The Spanish took a liking to my tights and the flattery was just what I needed after my awful week. A little harmless flirting never hurt anyone!
New found friends - Amy, Jeff and Pancho
Again, I am so lucky to have such lovely friends here in Wuxi, it makes the difficult times so much easier to handle (especially when my Mum is in Egypt and I can't talk to her!! I hope you're having a brilliant time Mum!)
For some, it was all too much!
I love weekends! I had a great day today, visiting the tailor (my new cashmere jacket is beautiful!) and spending time making some new friends. I turned up at the 'BBQ' being held in Venice Gardens to find that Tony had neglected to mention the fact that it was more 'drinking game' style rather than 'BBQ'! Just what I needed after a late one last night. Nevertheless, it was lovely to meet new people and hear other people's perspectives of life in Wuxi.
