On Sunday night, C and I were lucky enough to score tickets to the Chuckwagon races at the Stampede. Chuckwagon racing is a traditional western Canadian sport that simulates the breaking of a camp as the farmers head home to their families. First, the outriders must throw items representing camp gear into the back of the wagon, before the wagon takes off in a figure 8 around some barrels and then out onto the race track. It's a great spectator sport and many people in the crowd were betting on the races amongst themselves during the evening. But for now, that's it for another Stampede and for most of Calgary, their cowboy boots and hat will return to the wardrobe!

I was there on sunday too, doing sidesaddle demo's! It was sure a hot one wasn't it? I really wanted to watch the chuckwagons but thought I'd better high tail it out of there with the trailer before the mad rush!
Oh, I would have loved to see the sidesaddle demo!
