Ya hoo!!

Stampede advertising in Shanghai

I knew that the Calgary Stampede was coming up because I saw it advertised in Shanghai.  Yep, that's right.  I was sitting on the subway, when, while sitting at a station, I looked up to see an advertisement outside the window, advertising none other than the Calgary Stampede.  The ad was on a poster advertising the Canadian Expo building.  So, it was quite funny that when I returned to Calgary, the Stampede happened to be on.  Yesterday, I donned my cowgirl gear (checked shirt, denim shorts, cowboy boots) and headed to the rodeo.  The rodeo is a super fun event, but I'm still not sure if I totally agree with the sport.  I'm not a huge fan of the bucking horses because of my love of horses and I don't like seeing the calves be roped up.  However, I do love the bull riding because I can't stop marvelling at how mad the cowboys are to get on such a huge, bucking animal.  I also love the wild pony racing  because it looks like so much fun.  I had fun experimenting with the sports mode on my new camera although, most of the photos are courtesy of budding photographer, 11 year old B who took charge of my camera for most of the day.  Between us, we shot about 400 photos, so I've narrowed it down to just a few here.  Enjoy.
