An ancient Chinese saying proclaims that ‘In Heaven, there is paradise. On Earth there is Suzhou and Hangzhou'. Last weekend, I decided to explore a little slice of this paradise amidst the smog so I headed to the largest garden in Suzhou, known as ‘The Humble Administrator’s Garden’. Here, I wandered through the maze of paths and trees, finding small nooks and crannies along the way. The garden in winter was stunning with bare trees in amongst others of varying shades of green, yellow, brown and red. I spent a few hours walking, sitting, people watching and writing in my journal.
