The Chinese love their MSG – hefty doses are added to most meals, you can buy it in 1kg bags at the supermarket, they just love it. When Mum and Libby were here, we ate a lot of Chinese food, as you do when you are travelling. After each meal, Mum complained of feeling tired and sluggish but she perked up after a little while. We soon christened this, the ‘MSG hangover’. Like with alcohol, if you consume enough of it, you no longer suffer from hangovers ….. I must be an MSG addict now because I no longer have any side effects after a Chinese meal. Getting used to MSG certainly does make you wonder what is going on inside your MSG riddled body. I wonder if I will suffer from MSG withdrawal when I return to Australia? Perhaps I should take home a bag from the supermarket just in case? I hope you enjoy this visual feast of Chinese food …. without the MSG hangover.
