Packing and partying .....

IT extrordinaire, Jeef, at the entrance to his new pub
Well, my last weekend in Wuxi has officially ended and what a good one it was. I spent the days packing up my apartment and completing last minute shopping while the nights were spent partying, Wuxi style. Friday night was our staff party and we supported an ex-colleague of ours by holding the party at his new bar. As with most Chinese/Western bars, this one had a few quirks - interesting pre-dinner snacks and some unique 'Western' dishes (I opted safely and ate the Chinese meal on offer!). A pool competition, Secret Santa and quiz ensured that everyone was entertained.

Interesting lucky dip prizes - toilet paper? Omo?
The second night of partying was at Millennium, a new 5 star hotel, which is only about a 2 minute walk from my apartment. They were hosting the Wuxi International Club's Christmas party, so the function was filled with international guests from all over the world. It was great to see everyone all dressed up for the night - ball gowns were aplenty and the men looked wonderful in their suits. Despite the fact that Millennium is an international 5 star hotel, a Chinese element was evident - the 'cocktails' on offer during the pre-dinner cocktail hour were Sprite, Coke and beer! But a good night was had by all, a great band to dance to, delicious Christmas food and fantastic company at the 'Valentine's Girls' table.
